Hi! I’m Brittany, and I compete in Athletics for Team Ontario. I first worked with Special Olympians as a program assistant for figure skating. Later, while working at our local pool as a lifeguard, I heard a swim team was being formed and knew it was something I wanted to be a part of.
Special Olympics has added so much to my life. Working with athletes and other coaches has become a highlight of my week. The joy and sense of community within this organization is truly special.
One of my proudest moments was attending Provincial Games in Waterloo as an assistant coach and being part of the achievements and joy of all team members.
I work at Collingwood General & Marine Hospital as a nurse and am active as a Head Coach, Community Coordinator, and member of the fundraising committee.
Being part of Team Ontario is a great honor.
My advice?
Be proud of your accomplishments so far — you’ve worked hard. Enjoy training, try your best, and enjoy every moment of the Games.
