Hi! I’m Alexa, and I compete in Swimming for Team Ontario. I was approached by a developmental support worker at a summer camp who knew I swam and thought I would be a perfect fit to join the club. I came to practice and loved it — and I’ve now been part of Special Olympics for five years.
Special Olympics has taught me lessons about patience and determination. I can show up to practice and immediately be in a good mood with a smile on my face. My athletes are the reason I come back every week.
One of my proudest moments is seeing my athletes proud of themselves after their races.
I work as an Occupational Therapist at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Being part of Team Ontario is an honour. I’m excited to learn and grow as a coach.
My advice? Have fun and embrace every opportunity presented to you!
