Hi! I’m Sydney, and I compete in Swimming for Team Ontario! I first got involved when my special education teacher in public school introduced me to Special Olympics — and I’ve now been part of it for 12 years.
Through Special Olympics, I’ve made lots of friends and grown as an athlete. One of my proudest moments was winning all of my races at the Provincial Games for swimming.
I also competed in downhill skiing at Nationals in Thunder Bay.
I’ve helped with fundraisers in my community and love staying involved.
My advice? Don’t be nervous. Do your best — and enjoy all the experience!
