Samantha Damiani

Hi! I’m Samantha, and I’m part of Team Ontario as Mission Staff. I first started coaching floor hockey as an excuse to stay out late — my brother was an athlete on the team and I didn’t think it was fair he got to stay up later than me. I’ve now been part of Special Olympics for 26 years.

Special Olympics has taught me the true meaning of teamwork, inclusion, and joy. Over the years, I have seen how sports can break down barriers and build lasting friendships. The experience has made me a better coach, a more patient leader, and a stronger advocate for equality and respect.

One of my proudest moments was representing Canada as Head Coach for Floor Hockey at the 2013 World Winter Games in PyeongChang.

Being part of Team Ontario means being part of something bigger. It’s about supporting each other and celebrating success together.

My advice? Enjoy every moment.
