Hi! I’m Matthew, and I’m part of Team Ontario in Powerlifting. I first got involved after attending a practice and knowing it was something I wanted to be part of. I also wanted to provide information and experience to aid the athletes I coach.
Special Olympics has had a huge impact on my life. Working a stressful job, it has helped me deal with negative stress and find happiness and joy in people.
One of my proudest moments has been being the Head Coach for Windsor Powerlifting and training two athletes who qualified for Nationals for the first time for our city.
I’m active as Head Coach for Powerlifting, raising money for Special Olympics, and participating in the Polar Plunge and Torch Run.
Being part of Team Ontario means a lot of hard work and consistency paying off over countless hours of training. It’s a feeling of pride and accomplishment for me and my team.
My advice? Consistency and hard work are keys to success — even when you fail. Don’t look back, only forward.
