Hi! I’m Andre, and I compete in Powerlifting for Team Ontario. I first got involved through a co-worker at my dad’s old workplace, and I’ve now been part of Special Olympics for 19 years.
Special Olympics has impacted my life — yes.
One of my proudest moments was deadlifting 501 pounds at the World Games in Abu Dhabi.
I have participated in 3 National Games — London, Ontario (2010), Vancouver, BC (2014), and Antigonish, NS (2018) — all in powerlifting. I have also competed at 2 World Games — Los Angeles, CA and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates — in powerlifting.
I stay active by participating in all six sports that I’m involved in.
Being part of Team Ontario means a lot.
My advice? Stay committed to the sports that you love to do.
