Hi! I’m Peggy, and I’m part of Team Ontario as Mission Staff. I first got involved as a parent, helping support the start of Active Start in Orono, NB, and supporting my son in his journey in NB, NS, and AB. I later volunteered on the community council in Labrador West and was thrilled to join the community council with SO Ottawa as Program Chair when I moved back to Ontario in 2023.
As a mom and volunteer, Special Olympics brings so much meaning to my life. I get to see the impact of the movement on athletes, their families, and communities.
One of my proudest moments has been introducing new programs and sports to Special Olympics communities.
I work with the Canadian Armed Forces and am active as Community Council Chair, Athletics Coach, Bocce Coach, Powerlifting mom, Snowshoeing mom, and cheerleader for everything else.
Being part of Team Ontario means getting to be part of athletes’ successes — whatever their goals are.
My advice?
As athletes, you are all leaders — inspiring others through your hard work and accomplishments. Keep doing what you’re doing, believe in yourself, and don’t be afraid to test your limits!
