Hi! I’m Alisha, and I compete in Soccer for Team Ontario. I first got involved after being told about the program from a worker, and I’ve now been part of Special Olympics for 10 years.
Special Olympics has made me feel included. It has allowed me to travel and make new friends.
One of my biggest sport achievements was representing Team Canada for alpine skiing in 2021. I previously participated in the 2020 National Winter Games for alpine skiing and qualified for the 2021 Winter World Games in Kazan, Russia, but did not attend due to COVID and the war.
I work at Care Partners, a nursing agency, as an administrative assistant, and I’m active as a spokesperson and through fundraisers.
Being part of Team Ontario means my hard work has paid off. It makes me proud to represent my province in a sport I absolutely love — soccer.
My advice? Train and work hard. Enjoy the journey and have fun along the way.
