Hi! I’m Josee, and I compete in Powerlifting for Team Ontario. I first got involved by going to registration at fall sign-up and never looked back. I’ve now been part of Special Olympics for 15 years.
Special Olympics has helped me make a lot more friends, become a lot less shy, and be more outgoing.
One of my proudest moments was going to the World Games twice and bringing back medals for my country and hometown.
I have participated in London 2012 (National), Vancouver 2014, Nova Scotia 2018 (National), Dubai 2019, and Germany 2023.
I work in long-term care as a PSW and serve as a mentor for younger athletes.
Being part of Team Ontario means a lot of dedication and work. It also means being part of a family.
My advice? You just have to believe you can do it.
