Hi! I’m Tyrina, and I compete in Athletics for Team Ontario! It all started with Special Olympics bowling, and I’ve now been involved for nine years.
Before Special Olympics, I mostly kept to myself — but being involved has helped me grow, meet people, and find confidence. One of my proudest moments is competing in track and field, especially the 400 metre.
I work as a grocery clerk and push carts on weekends, staying active both at work and in sport.
Being part of Team Ontario means a lot to me — especially at 27, seeing others my age pursuing their goals reminds me that I belong here too.
My advice? Only compete against yourself — and make yourself proud.
